I'm Rosa, and I'm fifteen. Some days, feels more like fifty. Let's not get into that, though. I'm sure you don't want to hear me bitch & moan, as much as I like to. I'll stop the introduction there, that being all that's vital. I'm curious to hear the opinions of everyone else in the community:

Insofar as I understand, I'm a unusual Goth- as much as I like metal and similar genres that are, by common consensus, Goth, I'm more fond of classical music. Currently, I've been working my way through an excellent recording by Yo-Yo Ma of all six of Bach's suites for unnaccompanied cello. As it were, I'm a beginning cellist who played violin for close to nine years before converting.

Many other 'Goths' (term used loosely) have been condemning for my love of classical music. I stand to my guns, for one good reason.

Angst is a feature of some, but by no means all, of the music that is our Top 40, if you will refrain from flogging me for such an analogy. However, there is more to life than angst. There are more emotions to explore- there is euphoria, tranquility, ecstasy, joy, and even beauty as an emotion. Many people, many not Goth, will insist that there is nothing more to out subculture than cursing happiness, Baphomet or Satan, and slitting our wrists.

There's so much more, and we should not confine our music to their expectations. We are Gothic by choice, our music should be just as much our choice. Freedom of expression and the power to be an individual are what the movement is about, are they not?

I'm eager to hear the common, or not-so-common opinion of this community.

Really, I was only joking darling.

I'm..kinda/sorta/not quite of Easter European descent. 1/4 Jewish. My great grandparents were from Austria and Hungary. I'm also tons of other stuff...if I were to go into it it would make you dizzy.

I'm getting soooo off topic here.
